Maryana Ambagis
SHE/HER
I am a graduate level student in my final year at NYU pursuing my master’s in social work (MSW). I received my bachelors in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and, while there, specialized in providing support to adult individuals who were experiencing incarceration.
I spent the last ten years working in the Human Resource (HR) department for companies in various industries. While I valued my time in the corporate world, it ultimately reinforced my passion for supporting individuals and attending to their needs as opposed to the interests of the corporation. This led me to embark on my current educational and training journey with a focus on social justice and the betterment of the self.
As someone who believes all people are worthy of mental health support and access to resources, my goal is to be a resource for you.
As an aspiring therapist, I hope to create a therapeutic space that invites collaboration, exploration, and authenticity—where you can come as you are to work through your needs without judgment.
I am committed to celebrating individuals for who they are, acknowledging diversity and individuality in backgrounds, identities, and relationship styles. You are an expert in your own experience, which allows us to access, focus, and support your inner strengths to promote positive change.
I am dedicated to disrupting the stigma surrounding how humans connect with themselves and others. Our work together will ideally help you feel empowered to heal, invest in your needs and wants, and build towards your most fulfilling life.
