Kate Levine, MA, LMHC
THERAPIST
SHE/HER/HERS
As a therapist, I strive to create an environment that is conducive to exploration without fear of judgment.
We’re often isolated in our hurt, and more so when shame is present. The experience of struggle is something we all face, but the choice to face it and exist with our vulnerability is where our innate strength and capacity to thrive emerges.
I tailor treatment to meet individual goals and to best facilitate a person’s or couple’s own ability to heal, drawing from different therapies and theories, including person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment, internal family systems, existential, mindfulness, and feminist/multicultural.
I have primarily worked with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, interpersonal struggles, body negativity, and trauma, as well as wellness, identity development, sexuality, gender, and relationship dynamics.
I hold a license in New York (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and Ohio (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor). I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wellesley College and my Master’s in Counselor Education from Ohio State University. I am currently working towards my sex therapy certification.
I’m a white, cisgender, able-bodied person, and I work to stay engaged with the ways these identities show up in therapy. Among my core personal and professional beliefs, I acknowledge and celebrate human diversity. I have experience with queer, trans, and non-binary populations, as well as allies. I provide ethical-non-monogamy-, poly-, and kink-competent care. My practice is body-affirming.
Therapy is a way of healing in which I have significant trust – I have lived it myself and have witnessed it in others. I’m here to be part of the growth you seek towards living more authentically and meaningfully.
