SHE/THEY
Vulnerability is really fucking hard. I know this as a human being, as a counselor, and as a person in a position of power. Your vulnerability deserves to be treated with compassion and kindness. Within the therapeutic room, I aim to offer a safe, comfortable, and open space for my clients to discuss whatever might be coming up for them. A client's ability to feel seen, respected, heard, and empowered during their time with me is of utmost importance.
The main goal of my work is to be a helpful resource that aids in my clients ' journey of growth and understanding. Their goals for the space are the compass with which we will navigate our work together. In this process, we will connect clients to their innermost selves and treat their internal worlds with compassion as well as build upon the distress tolerance and coping skills they already have. We will explore themes of identity, shame, guilt, intellectualization, perfectionism, and more in our work together
Humor, kindness, and directness will be used abundantly in my communication, and in doing so will hopefully foster feelings of trust and safety within our relationship.
As a Trans feminine/ Non-binary, queer, bigger-bodied, white-latine individual from the southern U.S., it is important for me to understand the intersections of identity that exist in the room and the systems in place that affect those identities. Who you are cannot be encompassed within an identity marker, but those markers can be a huge part of how you navigate this world and I will respect, honor, and hold space for that.
Within my work, I specialize in working within the queer, trans, and BIPOC umbrellas as well as the intersections of all three. In addition, I also specialize in working with folks who have previously worked as or are currently working as sex workers, folks who have experienced relational, developmental, or sexual trauma, folks exploring kink/fetish, folks with histories of dissociation or avoidance, folks who are exploring their neurodiversity, and folks who are struggling with: anxiety, depression, shame, sex, intimacy, identity, self-esteem, and/or relationships. Within my couple's work, I specialize in working with communion patterns, emotional safety, sexuality, non-monogamy, poly relationships, and infidelity. These specializations are not exhaustive and my work with clients can include so many other areas of identity, experience, or concerns that are not mentioned.
I hold an M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU Steinhardt and currently have an LP in mental health counseling in the state of NY. My approach to therapy draws upon feminist, narrative, DBT, solution-focused, mindfulness, sex, multicultural, person-centered, CBT, somatic, and IFS-related modalities. I take advantage of these approaches and more to make sure we can employ any tool at my disposal to support you on your journey.
