THEY/THEM
I am a queer and nonbinary therapist focused on creating safer spaces for healing. I hold a clinical Master's degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, City University of New York. I also have a Master's degree in American Studies from New York University, with specific focus on postcolonial and feminist/queer studies. I carry with me over a decade working in sexual health counseling and education.
I work with queer, trans, nonbinary, and sex worker individuals and (immigrant) communities of color. I offer affirming dialogue to address concerns and hopes regarding sexuality, gender identity/expression, relationships, kink/BDSM, polyamory/consensual non-monogamy, (anti-)racism, and pleasure.
Oftentimes, these areas of interest give rise to anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, and various forms of oppression (e.g. racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, xenophobia, etc.). Specifically, many undergo struggles around coming out, dating, relationship conflicts, interpersonal and occupational racism, and familial tensions around gender and/or sexuality. With these obstacles in mind, my goal is to provide a nonjudgmental space, with critical perspective, to help unpack layered histories and transform the relationship with oneself and with others.
I apply techniques, such as narrative therapy, mindfulness practice, somatic attunement, motivational interviewing, and creative arts. Through the lens of intersectionality and social justice, I also utilize the liberation health model, attachment theory, and self psychology to help inform this work.
